The NJM Facility Operations Department has an opening for an Maintenance Operator in our Hammonton, NJ facility.  The successful candidate will assist the Maintenance Supervisor in operating and maintaining all related building systems including: mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fuel oil), electrical systems (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), control systems, fire/life safety, and mission critical equipment.

The Maintenance Operator will also interact with various departments, contractors and service vendors supporting the facility.

This is a 2nd shift role and the scheduled hours but 1:00pm-9:30pm ( this schedule includes a 10% shift Differential).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance in a safe manner and completed without interfering with NJM business operations or employee activities
  • Coordinate with all service vendors and contractors performing work at the facility; Check work progress periodically to assess their progress and provide assistance as needed
  • Monitor conditions and make adjustments to building mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Perform visual inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms and mission critical equipment and communicates any concerns or problems to supervision
  • Utilize the building management system (BMS- Siemens Apogee) to watch conditions and documents any modifications to operating conditions or abnormalities in the shift operators log book

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Three years experience in facility operations and maintenance or related training preferred
  • Training or experience in HVAC, chilled and hot water distribution, plumbing, electrical distribution or fire alarm systems is preferred
  • Facilities/Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance skills is required
  • Must be a Self-starter with good communication skills, both written and verbal        
  • Must have a strong interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems
  • Must have proficient computer skills and be able to use MS Office for e-mails and a Work Order System for processing maintenance requests
  • Low pressure Black Seal boiler operator license is required (or obtain within 6-months of hire)
  • There may be a need to work some occasional overtime

The Salary Range for this role is $55,400– $62,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials.
