Primary Purpose:
Become an expert on Positive Train Control (PTC), Energy Management (EM) and related systems and rail operations to ensure modifications to the systems and applications are safe and reliable for implementation in the production rail environment.
Principal Duties:
• Develop and provide functional and technical expertise of the NS PTC and EM system components and implementation
• Create positive and negative test scenarios based on desired functional operation of the system in the rail environment
• Adhere to the NS test strategy and its execution for requirements traceability, regression testing, test case development, interoperable releases, testing automation, defect management and reporting, testing metrics, and scheduling
• Test, validate and verify software/hardware functionality, compatibility, and system integration components perform as specified and work with test team colleagues and vendors to resolve all test findings
• Highlights potential problems in software and escalates critical test findings according to department policy
• Work with systems engineering and operations center team members to understand field operation system behavior and defect characteristics
• Review requirement changes, maintain test procedures and ensure test records required by regulation are generated along with artifacts and test findings
• Support field testing activities, as needed

Education:
Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS)
Preferred Majors: Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or Management
Technical Skills:
• MS Office 365
• Test case development
• Automation, agile methodology
• Lab environment and architecture
• Develop knowledge of Positive Train Control and Energy Management systems
• Develop knowledge of relevant NS Operating Rules and Practices
• Develop knowledge of train operations, train reporting and corresponding systems
• Develop knowledge of dispatch system functionality and corresponding systems
• Develop knowledge of Enterprise GIS database for rail track data
Skills and Abilities:
