At NorthBay Health the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for Ortho NOW Clinic functions as a member of the multidisciplinary medical team. The APP is a health care professional with advanced education and training in the care of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. The APP works under the direction of a licensed physician. The APP is also directed by standardized protocols and procedures and in collaboration with the supervising physician.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is classified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of California.
The APP will work in Napa/Solano County Areas.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Performs physical examinations and updates patient history.
- Formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan as appropriate for patient needs.
- Orders ancillary services as appropriate to meet patient needs.
- Reviews all patient lab results and follows-up on abnormal test results. Reviews lab results with patient.
5. Requests specialty consultation as approved by the supervising physician.
6. Provides patient education as appropriate.
- Provides treatments and procedures as appropriate.
- Applies casting and bracing as appropriate.
- Directs the overall clinical management of the patient and works closely with members of the care team to ensure that patient is receiving appropriate services.
- Counsels patients who require close monitoring for compliance with established treatment plan.
- Coordinates patient care and diagnostic studies with other disciplines including interventions to ensure patient compliance.
- Documents patient care as outlined in the Physician Assistant Protocol.
- Identifies high risk problems and transfers care to appropriate physician.
- Collaborates and communicates with appropriate physicians on patient care issues.
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team to identify patient problems and develop plan of care to address needs of patient.
- Seeks consultation from physician on any cases that he/she may feel exceeds his/her ability to manage, when the PA is in doubt of the diagnosis, when a patient fails to respond to treatment or when the patient expresses a desire to see the physician.
- Participates in team conferences to review status of each patient as needed.
- Participates in the development of standards of care and standards of practice as identified by orthopedic department.
- Participates in data collection and outcome measurement to ensure quality care is being provided.
- Acts as a resource for staff.
- Performs inpatient patient rounds in support of the surgical service to which Physician Assistant is assigned.
- Works collaboratively with team members to ensure appropriate and efficient flow of patients through clinic appointments.
- Completes and submits coded fee tickets or electronic billing for each patient encounter.
- Displays excellent customer service and clinical quality skills.
- Participates in call schedule rotation, as requested.
- Ensures compliance with all safety and quality protocol within the surgical suite.
- Instruct patient in pre-and post-operative procedure care.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participates in Practice Operations Council for assigned clinic location
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program including a Nurse Practitioner Program OR Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Evidence of training related to functioning as a surgical first assistant is mandatory.
- Master's required.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and Board Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board OR Current Physician Assistant licensure by the State of California Physician Assistant Examining Committee. AHA ALS required. Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications. Maintains a current DEA license for schedule II drugs and above or can achieve within 60 days of hire.
- Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR.
- Maintains a current DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Three year's experience as a Nurse Practitioner, or completion of internship in primary care at NorthBay OR Minimum of three years experience as a Physician Assistant practicing in a related field. Minimum of two years' experience as a surgical first assistant.
- Able to evaluate patient's physical and emotional status.
- Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age-related needs with current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Pediatric, Adult, Young Adult, and Geriatric.
- Able to clearly set behavioral limits.
- Demonstrates ability to mentor others. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Acts as advocate when representing colleagues and uses appropriate methods to clearly convey information to others in an engaging way.
- Works with others respectfully and openly to achieve shared goals.
- Bilingual Preferred.

Compensation:
- NP and PA per diem hourly pay range $98.24 – MAX $125. listed rate inclusive of per diem differential
- MAX rate is commensurate of 20+ years APP experience
- Offered rate will be based on years of APP experience
