At NorthBay Health, the Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing. The RN, utilizing Jean Watson's Theory of Caring Relationship Based Care, and NorthBay's professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care. The RN makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.  Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psychosocial needs of the patient.  Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.

Qualifications

Education:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing.  BSN required by January 1, 2020, unless grandfathered as outlined in March 2014 letter.

Licensure: 

  • Valid and current RN license by the State of California.  
  • Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS. 

Experience:  

  • Minimum six month's acute care experience required.
  • 6 months wound care and ostomy experience preferred
  • Demonstrates skills in the following area including but not limited to: basic wound care skills

  • Knowledge of advance wound care treatment modalities, lower extremity compression therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, ankle-brachial index screening; peripheral vascular screening, knowledge of indications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy

  • Knowledge of use and application of total contact cast

  • Knowledge and skill in ostomy care

  • Knowledge and treatment of diabetic, arterial, venous, and pressure ulcers including post-operative and traumatic wounds.

  • Ability to provide inpatient wound and ostomy consultation including pressure ulcer staging independently

Communication:  

  • Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. 

Standards of Performance: 

  • Demonstrate performance by adhering to established policies and procedures and exhibiting the defined characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality.  Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Population Specific:  

  • The RN provides care to pediatrics (case by case basis), adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population.

Work Hours:

  • Total Hours: At least four (4) shifts each month, or more as determined by the department's per diem availability standard and process 
  • Shift: 10-hour shifts

Compensation:

  • Hourly Salary Range Min $85.98 - Max $103.68(Offered hourly rate based on years of experience) 
  • 15% per diem differential included in salary range
  • Plus, Generous Shift Differentials
