Description:  1.0 FTE Elementary core specialist at Office of Teaching & Learning-this position is 195 days/year

Job Summary:  Specialists will be part of a district cadre with an assignment at one to three schools, receive additional learning opportunities with a 10 day extended contract, and meet our MSBSD mission to prepare all students for success through capacity building among staff.  The focus of this position is to strengthen core instruction.  

Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate.  Specialist will also need to have reliable transportation to travel between work sites. Ideal candidates will be well versed in the science of reading, high impact instructional methods, visible learning, and teacher clarity. Ability to meet the Alaska Reads Act requirements is essential.

Physical Requirements: LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligable amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
