SALARY: Co-Teacher Salary Scale (NEGOTIABLE)
Non-Exempt   POSITION SUMMARY
Conduct frequent home visits to families expecting the birth of a child or with children through age three to provide information on child growth and development. Instruct parents in fostering learning and nurturing development of their children. Provide a model for parents in teaching, motivating, and disciplining young children. Ensure that services are provided effectively and efficiently to the Oneida Nation. Continuation of this position is contingent upon funding allocations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement the philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives of the Oneida Nation School System.
2. Assist in planning and implementing educational programs for prenatal to three-year-old children which reflect sound developmental practices and include the children's heritage.
3. Visit homes of expectant moms or families with young children through age three to deliver Parents as Teachers developmental lessons.
4. Prepare developmental lesson incorporating good physical and mental health; Oneida language and culture; nutrition; fine and gross motor activities (both teacher-directed and child-inspired); natural and social sciences; safety; music; stories; finger plays; speech and language development.
5. Review developmental lesson with parents; conducts home visits to collect and review follow up activities.
6. Provide a model for parents in teaching, motivating, and disciplining young children.
7. Provide an environment that engages infant/toddler's interest in participating.
8. Provide a safe and nurturing environment.
9. Represent the Family and Child Education (FACE) team by visiting families and modeling appropriate adult-child interactions.
10. Participate in staff Oneida language and culture classes and integrates Oneida language and culture into bi-weekly visits and parent activities.
11. Assist with public relations efforts for the FACE team through educational forums, community meetings and events, publications, circulars, newsletters, bulletins, memorandums, and other appropriate media.
12. Administer pre- and post-screening assessments.
13. Evaluate individual growth and performance in knowledge and understanding.
14. Assist with Center-based classroom and monthly Face Family Circle times. Maintain accurate, appropriate, and confidential records regarding students' attendance, progress, and other pertinent information.
15. Assist in completing reports as required; ensure accuracy and completeness of data for end of year reports to BIE.
16. Act as a positive role model for students including: operating as an advocate for children and families; upholding high professional standards; helping parents develop an active involvement and interest in their children's activities; and refraining from using profanity, corporal punishment, or discriminating against participants.
17. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
18. Adhere to all Tribal Personnel Policies and Procedures, Tribal Standard Operating Procedures, and Area and Program Strategic Plans and Policies.
19. Maintain strict department security, confidentiality, and quality to meet professional standards of the department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Frequently sit and walk. Occasionally stand and stoop, kneel, crouch; crawl, lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
2. Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
3. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
2. Knowledge of school organization, functions, objectives, policies, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood education.
4. Knowledge of the Oneida language, community, history, and culture.
5. Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
6. Skill in providing a safe and nurturing environment for infant/toddler age children.
7. Ability to exercise independent judgment.
8. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
9. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
10. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
11. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during crisis situations.
12. Ability to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of families, individual, adult, and young children's educational requirements and respect participants.
13. Ability to motivate and engage birth-three (3) year old toddlers to be engaged in learning.
14. Certified in First Aid and CPR within six (6) months of employment.
15. Oneida Certification on Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect within ninety days (90) days of employment.
16. Must comply with Bureau of Indian Education criminal history records check as a condition of employment to include fingerprinting.
17. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must adhere to the Nation's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
18. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to employment.)
19. Must be willing and able to obtain additional education and training.
20. Must pass a background security check with the Oneida Nation in order to meet the Employment Eligibility Requirements, Tribal/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance as they pertain to the position. A temporary license or Gaming License issued by the Oneida Gaming Commission is required as a condition of employment and continuing employment within the Oneida Nation's Gaming Division.
21. A valid driver's license or occupational driver's license is required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver's license or occupational driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver's license. Must be authorized as eligible to operate a Tribal vehicle under the Oneida Nation's Vehicle Driver Certification and Fleet Management Law prior to actual start date. Must maintain driver's eligibility as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One (1) year experience in early childhood teaching and working with families.
2. Previous experience with the FACE program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants please clearly state how you meet these qualifications on the application/resume.
1. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
2. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development, Human Growth and Development, Education.
