After successful completion of the probationary period, employee will receive off probation wage increase.


Summary:

Provide accounting assistance and support to Accounting Management and Accountants to ensure financial data is accurate, timely and in compliance with grant regulations. Calculate, code, enter, verify and reconcile financial transactions according to established accounting rules and regulations. The primary focus of this position will be Grants. 


Responsibilities:

* Provide excellent accounting assistance and support to include but not limited to receiving, organizing, and summarizing data; data entry; generate reports; conduct research as necessary; and perform a variety of reconciliations
* Establish a working knowledge of a variety of financial system modules including but not limited to: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Purchase Management, Fixed Assets, Intra-tribal, and Grant Tracking Software.
* Calculate, code and/or enter transactions into various financial system software modules including, but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, journal entries, Travel and Fixed Assets.
* Verify financial information is complete, accurate and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and Tribal accounting policy and procedures.
* Prepare, generate and distribute reports to business units, management, and outside agencies as needed.
* Perform a variety of accounting tasks including, but not limited to receipting payments from customers; verifying cash on hand and physical inventory balances.
* Provide assistance with special projects.
* Maintain record retention process for grant files.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures and provide improvements to management as needed.
* Participate in cross functional teams and activities to identify process and department improvement opportunities, evaluates alternatives, and implements solutions.

* Communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
* Must be detailed oriented and able to work with a high level of accuracy
* Navigating websites, Adobe, word-processing and spreadsheet software programs
* Ability to work independently to meet strict daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly accounting deadlines.
* Working knowledge of accounting concepts and computerized financial systems
* Knowledge and understanding of applicable tribal, federal, and state laws, regulations, and requirements
* Excellent organizational skills
* Skill in generating and reviewing reports

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
