Description

The Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Division of Infectious Diseases seeks an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or M.D./M.P.H. physician-scientist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. The successful applicant is expected have a track record of scholarly achievement in basic, translational, or clinical research, and external grant funding commensurate with their experience and proposed rank. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to an equitable and diverse environment in research, mentoring, teaching and service. The successful candidate
will be provided with a generous start-up package, lab space (if applicable), and protected research time.

OHSU is the only academic medical center in the State of Oregon. The Division of Infectious Diseases comprises 24 primary and affiliated faculty. The Division's inpatient clinical activities include 2 adult General ID inpatient consult services and a dedicated Transplant ID consult service, all of which see inpatients at OHSU and the affiliated Portland Veteran's Administration Hospital, which is physically connected to the OHSU hospital via a skybridge. Clinical activity on the General or Transplant inpatient Infectious Diseases consult service will be expected. Outpatient clinical activity at OHSU includes a robust OPAT program, general and transplant
infectious diseases, an internationally-renowned nontuberculous mycobacteria clinic, and HIV primary care.

Infectious disease-related research at OHSU is a highly collaborative effort that spans the entire University, including but not limited to the Division of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI), the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VTGI), the School of Dentistry, and the School of Public Health. Select areas of existing strength include immunology, virology including HIV, herpesviruses, and vector-borne viruses, parasitology, fundamental host-pathogen interactions, TB and NTM, and Computational Biology/Informatics.
Expanding efforts in Global Health research represent an opportunity for the right candidate. OHSU's NIH-funded Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) provides a foundation for performing clinical and translational research. The Oregon National Primate Research Center at OHSU provides a unique opportunity for infectious disease and immunology research. Additionally, the Division has close working relationships with state and local public health departments. Joint appointments in other OHSU Departments/Institutes/Schools will be considered on an individual basis.

OHSU values a diverse and culturally competent workforce. We are proud of our commitment to being an equal opportunity, affirmative action organization that does not discriminate against applicants on the basis of any protected class status, including disability status and protected veteran status. Individuals with diverse backgrounds and those who promote diversity and a culture of inclusion are encouraged to apply. To request reasonable accommodation, contact the Office of Civil Rights Investigations and Compliance (OCIC, formerly Affirmative Action and
Equal Opportunity (AAEO)) at 503-494-5148 or ocic@ohsu.edu.

Candidates should apply on-line by sending a PDF packet including a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and a statement describing their research program and interests to Gina Touger, Division Manager, at touger@ohsu.edu. Specific questions about the position may be directed to Dr. Morgan Hakki at hakki@ohsu.edu.
