Site Description: Halton is the Golden Horseshoe of Southern Ontario. From a population of 596,637 in the 2021. We are looking for security guards for 1151 Bronte Road. You will, in the course of your duties, encounter numerous situations. It is imperative that you have proven ability to use your own initiative and judgement but in a courteous manner.
Position: Full Time Security Guard

Hours: Monday to Friday (1630 - 0100 hrs)
Pay Rate: $19.48 /hr.
Averaging Agreement: Employment Standards Act.

Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a reliable and knowledgeable point of contact for campus services and resources. Demonstrate a strong understanding of Region of Halton and organizational security policies while maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Engage with visitors and staff to build positive relationships within the broader city community, promoting inclusivity and cultural awareness. Foster a safe and supportive environment for all visitors, staff, and community members.
- Provide assistance during emergencies or crises, contacting appropriate emergency services when necessary. Remain calm and supportive during incidents, using de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to identify and report facility damage, safety hazards, or security risks. Ensure all security measures are functioning properly, including alarms, surveillance systems, and access control points.
- Monitor and authorize access of employees, visitors, and other individuals to maintain a secure environment. Respond promptly to alarms and incidents in a professional manner without creating unnecessary panic.
- Write accurate and detailed reports for all incidents and daily activities. Perform key, radio, and pager audits with accurate logging. Manage Lost & Found services and handle related inquiries professionally.
- Report unsafe working conditions to appropriate departments. Provide first aid and medical assistance when required, according to current certifications and training.
- Work both independently and collaboratively with the security team to ensure ongoing safety. Proactively enforce facility policies during patrols and document any violations or concerns.
- Support overall team efforts by performing additional duties as needed, contributing to the smooth and secure operation of the facility.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a security role
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- A Valid WSIB Approved First Aid CPR – Level C
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- 6 Months Customer Service Experience
- Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
