The Security Manager holds the responsibility, authority, and accountability for overseeing the daily activities of their team to ensure effective performance. This role is key in maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, contractors, and visitors. Additionally, the Security Manager is responsible for supervising regular patrols of the premises and ensuring the effective operation of the Security Systems Monitoring Station.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the staff, contractors, and visitors
• Perform interviews to support HR to ensure sufficient resources are available to meet the company's contractual obligations
• Liaise with other lateral colleagues in the Security Sector to continually gain and acquire knowledge
• Liaise with the client, to ensure that there is an open line of communication to address concerns as they arise - Respond to communications from client or staff in a timely matter
• Provide disciplinary and motivational discussions with all staff assigned within the site
• Ensure there are thorough Site training and employee orientation programs in place and all newly assigned staff demonstrates competence in their role
• Ensure Perspective reporting software is fully utilized by all staff
• Ensure escalation procedures are adhered to and followed with every incident
• Recognize the efforts of staff in formal or informal manner as appropriate
• Ensure there are always adequate numbers of trained security staff available
• Mentor Supervisors to perform evaluations of staff assigned to the site regularly and on a needed basis and within company policies
• Perform regular security evaluations and audits of facilities and ensure appropriate recommendations are made to clients so the security needs of both client and staff are met
• Coach Supervisors to effectively monitor daily the nightly reports/incident reports and take appropriate action.
• Oversee the overall operations related to the access control and the CCTV systems
• Oversee and support the work of all Shift Supervisors and Security Officers
• Ensure that all services provided by staff assigned within the portfolio are delivered in accordance with Paladin's code of Ethics and Policy and Procedures
• Ensure the “Security Officer Orientation Checklist” and OH&S orientation is completed as required
• Ensure all staff is provided with appropriate personal communication and protective equipment as required.
• Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly reports, records and logs are completed and filed as required, including:
• S/O time sheets, Equipment sign out sheets, Escort Logs, Incident statements and reports in Perspective, Book-off and time off requests, Trespass documentation, Daily radio, alarm, fire alarm isolations, and 911 logs, Daily access and unsecure door logs, Daily key audit, Mobile vehicle inspection and mobile patrol logs.
• Other Duties as assigned.
• Foster good relations with local law enforcement organizations and participate in joint programs designed to reduce crime
• Liaison with site managers at other Paladin location to establish a line of
communication to share security related information
Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer literate with advanced functionality in Microsoft Office Software
• Flexibility in time allocation
• Organizational abilities and strong management skills
• 3 Years of Security Experience is an Asset
• 2 years of Management experience is an Asset
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
High School Diploma/GED
