Summary of Job Description:

The Head of Construction is responsible for all construction related to company-owned stores and provides support to construction by store licensees, domestic, and international. This position is responsible for ensuring that all construction meets company standards and external regulatory requirements and is completed according to established schedules and budgets. The Head of Construction leads a team of directors, project managers and the Furniture, Fixture & Equipment (FF&E) Team. The Head of Construction is responsible for coaching and developing associates to elevate their performance

You'll get a chance to:

  • Responsible for all company construction, ensuring construction meets both company standards and external building regulations. Oversees construction by licensees and provides training to ensure licensees meet company standards.
  • Develop and manages all construction project budgets.
  • Ensure Construction aligns with company mission, objectives, and values.
  • Lead FF&E and Construction associates within Restaurant Development, managing, coaching, and developing directors, project managers, and professionals.
  • Responsible for hiring and retaining, staff and developing, and elevating associate performance to support the company's growth strategies.
  • Serve on the interdepartmental Concept Task Force involving Operations, Marketing, RD, IS, and Operations Innovation to achieve continuous process improvement related to the company brand and store concepts. Generates construction insights as the basis for enhancing the business.
  • Responsible for establishing and overseeing company construction policies and procedures.
  • Stay current on construction and FF&E regulations and works collaboratively with consultants and the design team to acquire required permits.
  • Stay abreast of construction and FF&E trends, particularly in the retail/hospitality industry.
  • Track the availability of labor and the cost of materials and their impact on store construction.
  • Monitor global construction and FF&E trends to anticipate future construction costs.
  • Evaluate general contractors for each construction project through the established bidding process or from a list of approved contractors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of FF&E to integrate FF&E with other related departments, such as SCM, and implement process improvement, including new systems or system enhancements.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Director, Facilities to obtain feedback on how FF&E products perform and the implications for vendor/product selection.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Design & Architectural Services to ensure brand standards and consistency for Restaurant Development.
  • Help Identify new vendors to support future growth.
  • Attend industry shows to identify potential vendors.
  • Evaluate potential vendors in coordination with SCM purchasing associates based on detailed equipment installation specifications.

Work Environment

  • Office conditions; travel to new stores and stores under construction or being remodeled as well as Operations regional meetings: 50% - 60%
