Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Spiritual Care Services, this is a management position responsible for designing, developing, implementing and managing all aspects of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at PIH Health Whittier Hospital.  Maintain programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with standards set forth by accrediting body Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), as well as goals and objectives, established with the Senior Director of Spiritual Care Services.  Provide quality education and training of students as appropriate for the hospital. Provide ongoing supervision of CPE interns and residents.

  • Computer and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities; to work with the Spiritual Care Department to effectively grow the CPE program and work with other PIH Health hospitals as well as other organizations and service providers.

Required Experience
  • Master of Divinity or equivalent degree.
  • Certification as an ACPE Supervisor.
  • Denominational Ordination and Endorsement.
  • Experience in CPE curriculum development.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the standards and outcomes expected by the accrediting organizations.
  • 2 or more years work as a staff chaplain in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in teaching at least 5 units of CPE.

Preferred:

  • Experience in building a CPE program is desirable
