Job Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Total Rewards, manage all aspects of Prisma Health's employee benefit program including, but not limited to welfare benefit programs, defined benefit plan(s) and defined contribution plan(s), and short and long term disability programs. Coordinate with key leaders within the organization to ensure benefit planning aligns with and supports Prisma Health strategic and fiscal objectives . Ensure compliance with reporting requirements mandated by state and federal law. Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Assist with employee insurance benefit inquiries and claims resolution issues.

Accountabilities

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise in employee benefits services, make recommendations on pending legislative actions regarding benefits, conduct benefits research, respond to benefits issues, and answer benefits queries.  Identify changing systems needs due to legal or contractual changes affecting benefits.  Partner with benefit brokers and plan administrators in researching, analyzing, evaluating, designing and administering benefits plans and programs.  Review market surveys to obtain coverage trends, options and costs.  - 10%
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws.  Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures as well as benefit plan documents which conform to applicable federal and state requirements. – 10%
  • Direct in planning for employee benefits programs.  Recommend goals and objectives and oversee and/or participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.  Develop and implement short and long-term work-plans and sets priorities.  - 20%
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Total Rewards, develops the fiscal year employee health and welfare budget.  Monitor adherence to the budget and reports variances as appropriate.  Meet with various vendors; evaluate programs; make recommendations and present product evaluation to decision makers.  Assist in timely reporting to providers and preparing plan information required for budget forecasting.  – 20%
  • Promote employee benefit programs and services to employees through effective and timely communications using electronic, print, and audio-visual media. – 10%
  • Coordinate with HRIS and Prisma Health Information Services to identify data processing criteria and requirements for electronic eligibility files, benefit enrollment information, and payment processing.  Routinely perform audits to ensure data integrity. – 10%
  • Direct professional and support staff in their efforts to maintain benefit program offerings, oversee maintenance of employee records, manage billing and payment records including reconciliation of invoices, and track employee eligibility for various benefit programs. Supervise and evaluate the work of the employee benefits division staff. Plan, schedule and assign work.  Hire and train staff. – 20%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • 5 years progressive professional experience in administering employee benefit programs, preferably in larger organizations.

In Lieu Of

In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, high school diploma and ten years of progressive professional experience in the administration of employee benefit programs may be considered in lieu of education and experience listed above.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools such as Microsoft Access and Crystal Reporting. 
  • SPHR, CEBS, GBA highly desirable - Preferred
  • Master's Degree - Preferred
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of office equipment, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and HRIS Systems
  • Mathematical skills
