Description

  • Assists mechanics to perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (trailers) on equipment as required to ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards. Helps troubleshoot and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Operate boiler plant. Connect, monitor and disconnect steam to the heating coils of a loaded cargo tank. Documents heating operations on a steam log. Compare product name on bill of lading with Safety Data Sheet to verify product name is the same on both documents prior to conducting steam operations.
  • Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes in compliance with QD COVID19 procedural directions.
  • Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety. Empty trash and perform grounds maintenance including managing weeds, yard trash and other grounds-related items as required at all shop and all terminal facilities.
  • Sweep shop and office floors, including vacuuming rugs and floors daily. Mop and dust twice a week, or as directed by the SM.
  • Clean the terminal counter a minimum of once per day and spray and disinfect door handles and stair rails daily. Dump all trash containers at the facility, including all bathrooms.
  • Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, masks, etc.) as required. Make shop/terminal personnel aware of any issues requiring special cleanup immediately.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, trade or technical school graduate
  • 1 to 2 years basic maintenance and/or mechanic experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • General computer skills
  • Minimum special knowledge and skills required:
  • Ability to carry out instructions accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Able to operate heavy machinery similar to steamer or boiler.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mechanical components.
  • Knowledge of using standard hand and power tools.
  • Team player.
