We currently have the opportunity for a Manager, Environment, Health & Safety to join our team in St. Louis, MO at our U.S. Country office. Reporting to the Senior Director, Environment, Health & Safety, the Manager, EH&S will provide support to Richardson's facility management teams, within the United States to ensure they maintain and achieve compliance with their ongoing regulatory, industry, and corporate objectives.
In addition, the EH&S Manager will actively represent Richardson International on various US-based industry committees and working groups and contribute to enhancing operational efficiencies. The Manager, EH&S will support the integration, delivery, and ongoing management of environmental, security, and health and safety initiatives by implementing effective programs and systems which monitor and promote a safe working environment, and regulatory and corporate compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary advisor to the facility management teams within the assigned regions in the United States on all EH&S-related subject matters
- Ensure management (facility and departmental) is kept abreast on relevant EH&S matters pertaining to the assigned region(s) and / or business unit(s)
- Travel to each operating facility to meet onsite with facility managers, safety reps, and committees to determine EH&S-support priorities and needs
- Deliver and facilitate training programs and content, both in person and virtually
- Promote effective and efficient EH&S-related communications, via Safety Committee Meetings, Toolbox Talks, employee and contractor orientations, etc., to facilitate a safe and efficient working environment
- Perform facility audits and inspections to evaluate the level of compliance with various regulatory, industry, and corporate standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Lead the drafting of corporate and site-specific operating procedures and programs, considerate of Corporate and US regulatory standards
- Provide proactive emergency planning assistance and incident response support
- Assist with conducting incident investigations to identify and report on hazards and recommend corrective action(s) to ensure applicable reporting requirements are met consistently
- Partner with Human Resources and facility management on implementing effective Disability Management programs for workplace injuries
- Work with sites to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all periodic regulatory reporting requirements (I.e. OSHA300, US BLS, State EPAs, etc.)
- Participate in strategic planning of annual objectives, goals and measurements as they apply to EH&S matters, in conjunction with the Department Manager
- Proactively liaise with applicable OHS-based industry associations to ensure the positions and interests of the agri-business and food processing sectors are appropriately communicated and considered in the development of industry best practices; and
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of working experience in an occupational, environmental, health, and safety role
- Strong working knowledge of Federal & State workplace, health, and safety regulations with the ability to review and interpret legislation
- Proven experience working with regulators to manage through worksite inspections, and citations with knowledge of OSHA and EPA
- Successful completion of a degree, diploma, or certificate program in Occupational or Environmental Health & Safety
- Possess or are working towards a recognized EH&S designation (i.e. CSP) within 24 months
- Experience working within an agribusiness, food processing, and/or the manufacturing sector in both union and non-union environments would be an asset
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate proven adult education, facilitation and training skills
- Ability to travel within North America
