We currently have an opportunity for a Production Operative at our Great Ryburgh location. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Malt handling – work with the Silo Operator to ensure that malt is brought across the bridge conveyor then into the Sack Plant. Making sure the malt is clean, free from contamination, the correct stock item and weight required for bagging.

Bagging line operations – Running the bagging line making sure malt is packed, labelled and palletised correctly with accordance to the Sack Plant production plan.

Stock transfer via FLT to the warehouse – Moving stock from the Sack Plant to the Warehouse safely. Booking in stock correctly via the in-house scan gun systems.

Loading trailers and containers for despatch – Loading trailers ready for dispatch safely and right first time. Loading container via the use of an FLT and via the container loading ramp. Making sure that the load is safe and secure ready for shipping.

Health and Safety – Work with site management to ensure compliance to health and safety procedures and take and active role in improving site safety.

Hygiene – Ensure the Sack Plant area is clean and tidy and complies with health and food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Malt Handling

  • Ensuring malt is ran over the bridge conveyor to the correct packing bin ready to be moved into the Sack Plant for packing.
  • Ensuring malt is ran through the malt handling system, cleaned through the Law Denis screen and destoners.
  • Ensuring the correct weight of malt is ran to the correct buffer bin and is clean and free from stone and contamination.
  • Ensuring malt is ran to the correct bagging line. This being either whole 25kgs, crushed 25kgs or 1/2mt or 1mt whole malt bags.
  • Ensure that the grist analysis is carried out on every batch of crushed malt. Ensuring that the grist analysis is in spec prior to bagging.
  • Ensure that the correct malt reaches the required bagging line in full.  

Bagging line operations

  • Work with the Sack Plant Operator who is operating the malt handling equipment to make sure that the right malt makes it to the required bagging line.  
  • Ensure the correct malt is bagged into either 25kgs, 1/2mt or 1mt bags going by the Sack Plant production plan.
  • Ensuring the metal detector checks are carried out at the start of each shift.
  • Ensuring the correct label is applied to the correct bags. Checking each SS batch number at the start and end of each run.
  • Ensuring the bags are palletised neatly and correctly. Ensuring that the correct pallet formation is being used depending on if you are bagging whole or crushed malt.
  • Ensure that crushed malt is bagged correctly on the ‘old mill' and pallets are stack neatly with the use of the mechanical lifting aid.

Stock transfer via FLT to the warehouse

  • Ensuring that pallets are wrapped correctly and bags are secured to the pallet.
  • Ensuring that the right pallet label is applied to each pallet.  
  • Ensuring that stock is booked into the warehouse via the in-house scan gun system correct and In full. Ensuring that it is also placed safely into the racking location.

Loading trailers and containers for dispatch

  • Making sure that trailers are loaded safely and correctly.
  • Ensuring the containers are loaded safely and in full. Ensuring that the correct paperwork is filled out and that the load is secured for shipping.

Health and Safety

  • Report identified hazards, near misses and accidents to your line manager as soon as possible to allow action to be taken.
  • Report any breaches in Crisp procedures to your line manager as soon as possible to ensure Crisp requirements and legal requirements are met.

Hygiene

  • Ensure that the Sack Plant area, both inside and outside is kept clean and tidy to an auditable standard to ensure compliance to food safety regulations and customer requirements.
  • Work with the site cleaning team to perform cleaning tasks around site as required.
