Title: Senior Network Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Networking Systems Specialist to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a seasoned network engineer with deep experience designing and supporting large-scale enterprise core, data center, and WAN networks, particularly with Arista Networks technologies. The ideal candidate will bring advanced expertise in EVPN, VXLAN, MLAG, and CloudVision, along with strong knowledge in F5 load balancing, DNS, certificate management, and modern network security frameworks.

Provides advanced level support, design, configuration, implementation and security remediation for any of the following technologies within the infrastructure realm which include the Servers, SAN, Network and Phone Systems; analyzes system traffic, providing capacity planning information and assisting with system solutions; monitors and responds to Server, SAN, Network and Phone System issues; executes projects while providing mentorship of existing and new technologies to lower level Network Systems Specialists, monitors and responds to complex technical hardware and software problems; interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
2. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience as a Network Systems Specialist II at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; or
3. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of eight (8) years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
4. Associates degree and the equivalent of ten (10) years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
5. High School diploma or High School equivalency and the equivalent of twelve (12) years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Arista Networks, including CloudVision, EVPN, VXLAN, and MLAG.
  • Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP platforms, including LTM, GTM, iRules, health monitors, and SSL offloading.
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols (BGP, OSPF, multicast), network segmentation, and routing policy.
  • Proficiency with WAN technologies including Peplink, SD-WAN, and Internet redundancy solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and proven ability to handle complex, multi-layered issues in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with DNS (BIND, Infoblox, or equivalent) and enterprise certificate management.
  • Working knowledge of 802.1X, RADIUS, NAC, and cert-based authentication mechanisms.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Certifications such as Arista ACE, F5 CTS/CA, CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent experience are a plus.
