Title: Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Chemistry-all/Hematology) [RP-E]

Job Type:

Regular Company: Roswell Park Cancer Institute Department: Clinical Chemistry Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in performing Chemistry-all/Hematology laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis, treatment and research; supervises technical and non-technical staff involved in the biochemical, immunological and blood count testing that use biological and hematological samples for diagnosis and ongoing patient assessment; provides direct administrative and clinical support to the Department Chairperson and Administrator; performs, monitors and reviews simple and/or complex laboratory test procedures in one or more laboratory sections.

Base salary range for this position is $86,057 - $108,638 which includes a comprehensive benefits package. In addition to the base salary, this position also offers a geographic differential of $4,580 annually and an assignment differential of $8,320 annually for a combined salary range of $98,957 - $121,538 annually. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
1. Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
3. Physician licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Doctorate degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank; or
2. Master's degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank; or
3. Bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank; or
4. Bachelor's degree in degree in medical technology or laboratory science and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.

NOTE:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the Clinical Laboratory Technologist license noted above within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. The applicable clinical laboratory or blood bank experience must be from a clinical laboratory or blood bank as defined in Section 571 of the New York State Public Health Law.
3. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have prior lead or supervisory experience, knowledge/experience with NYS, The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements, inspections, and/or audits, previous/current leadership experience with a focus on team building, personnel management, scheduling and previous/current progressive leadership experience with focus on instrumentation/method evaluations and inventory management. They will also have proven experience with laboratory quality assurance activities, previous experience working in a unionized environment and previous experience working with validation and procedure writing.
