Roush has an immediate need for a Senior High Voltage Systems Engineer to join our team. The Senior High Voltage Systems Engineer designs and implements high voltage junction boxes, high voltage cables, connectors and overall high voltage safety strategy for hybrid and full electric vehicle (EV) applications. The Senior High Voltage Systems Engineer is based out of Allen Park, MI and works with internal team members, customers and suppliers to ensure requirements are met.

As a Senior High Voltage Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Design and development of high voltage junction boxes comprised of busbars, contactors, fuses, and relays.
  • Perform high voltage cables' routing analysis at the vehicle level and implement best engineering practices for safe routing and cable retention.
  • Guide CAD designers on 3D concept generations and approve 2D drawings.
  • Interact with internal teams for component packaging at the vehicle level and provide input for robust mounting and clearances to adjacent parts.
  • Create component requirements and work with suppliers to ensure they are met.
  • Author test procedures and test reports to meet design verification (DV) testing requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis on tested parts and provide issue resolution.
  • Support vehicle builds by providing guidance on mounting and routing.
  • Create timelines and issue reports.
  • Good knowledge of best practices related to HV cable retention methods and connection systems.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

Minimum qualifications to be considered:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of product development engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with the development of high voltage (HV) architecture and HV electric powertrain components.
  • Experience with fuses, contactors, and relays.
  • Experience in product development tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design,
  • Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (DFMEAs), and Design, Verification, Plan and Reports (DVPRs).
  • Good knowledge of best practices related to HV cable retention methods and connection systems.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

A successful candidate may also have:

  • Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in electrical circuits analysis for power and energy requirements.
  • Experience in Battery Management Systems (BMS) controls, Controller Area Network (CAN) programming and performance aspects of the HV packs.  
  • Experience with electric powertrain components such as HV batteries, DC/DC, Motor Controls, and vehicle level controls.
  • Skilled in problem resolution in Vehicle Engineering, Control Systems and Software.
  • Ability to work with CAN based devices.
