The Vice President of Engineering & CAE will be a highly visible and strategic leader. The Vice President of Vehicle Engineering (VE) & Computer Aided Analysis (CAE) will lead the VE and CAE departments. This role includes overseeing training and mentoring department direct reports and program teams, as well as managing the overall profit and loss (P&L) of each group. The Vice President of VE & CAE will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategy, establishing goals, and providing leadership and accountability to achieve these goals. The role involves working closely with business development and department managers to boost company growth and align with mission and goals for long-term sustainability. This role is an onsite role based out of Allen Park, MI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the business including budget, timing, scope, quality, process adherence and customer management.
- Oversee the operations of multiple departments including financial management, revenue and income commitments to ownership, staffing strategy, customer satisfaction, business development and estimating.
- Serve as the formal interface between the departments and leadership team.
- Ensure strategic goals are developed, cascaded, and implemented throughout the organizations that foster growth.
- Lead, mentor and train a team of Directors and their cross functional teams. Ensure leadership team is developing, mentoring and establishing career plans throughout their departments.
- Provide oversight of contract development and negotiations, and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Focus on overall continuous improvement of business operations, financial growth, and company culture.
- Build lasting internal collaborative relationships to take full advantage of Roush's vertical integration and capabilities, which result in further revenue opportunities.
- Monitor progress of projects and programs and establish escalation process to step into lead projects and programs, if required.
- Develop and execute the company's strategic planning process, ensuring it aligns with our vision mission, strategic objectives and metrics.
- Conduct thorough market analysis and research to identify emerging trends and opportunities for growth
- Monitor industry and competitive landscape to identify potential threats and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field of study
- Minimum 10 years of experience leading organizations executing projects or business in technical industries.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing business financials.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership and people management experience
- U.S. citizen under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance
- Effective leadership and management abilities.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Ability to solve complex problems and be self-motivated.
- Customer-centric with emphasis on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to make sound recommendations and provide guidance to effectively meet business priorities.
- Strong team leader fostering teamwork, cooperation, and relationship building.
- Exhibit excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, and possess strong time management, self-control, and flexibility characteristics.
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to impact and influence others and ability to lead team meetings and program reviews.
- Ability to work in and knowledge and experience with large OEMs and small startups in a variety of markets which could include Mobility, Defense, Aerospace, Entertainment or others
Preferred Skills:
- 5 years of experience in product development
- 5 years of experience in product consulting services.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, metal finishing, electrical systems, and composites.
