SAIC is recruiting a Cloud Engineer for one of our programs supporting the FDA. The Cloud Engineer will primarily be responsible for deploying and managing cloud resources within an FDA CFSAN owned AWS (Amazon Web Services) environment to support a datacenter migration initiative. The existing datacenter primarily leverages VMware technology for hosting both Linux and Windows operating systems. The engineer will be responsible for managing AWS resources that leverage both the Windows and Linux operating system for servers and virtual desktops. The engineer will have the ability to utilize several migration techniques to support this migration and will be responsible for choosing the best migration methodology. Customer coordination and interaction to ensure a successful migration is required. The migration has already started, and procedures put in place to support the migration.
 

Key technologies required for this role are:
·    Amazon Web Services (EC2, ELB, VPC, S3, RDS, Workspaces, ECS)
·    AWS Application Migration Service (formerly AWS Server Migration Service)
·    Centos 7/8, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu 18/20
·    Windows 10/11, Server 2019 and above
Other desired technologies:
·    VMware vCenter / vSphere / Horizon View
·    Scripting (Shell or Python)
·    Automated configuration management (Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.)
Responsibilities:
Resolve issues and assess escalation to vendor support. Have the willingness to accept challenges outside of your expertise and comfort zone. Provide exemplary client communication skills. Ability to organize and work on multiple projects or tasks while maintaining schedules, deliverables, and industry leading SLA and uptime. 
Skills:
Demonstrated experience in creating documentation of designs and solutions. Exposure to application, database, storage and network configuration. Ability to effectively communicate complex enterprise solutions to internal staff and government customers.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

·    Bachelors and 5 years of experience, Masters and 3 years of experience, may consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
·    5+ years of relevant work experience is preferred
·    3+ years of experience in AWS administration
·    1+ years of experience in datacenter migration
·    Desired - SysAdmin associate certification or AWS Solutions Architect


Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
