SAIC is looking for a Design Engineer Associate to support our NASA NCCIPS program out at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

 

Job Description:

  • Monitor daily work requests and updates. Must be able to process information and set priorities based on that information.
  • Provide Quality Control for as-built NCCIPS configuration and infrastructure and identify anomalies and discrepancies that could interfere with facility function.
  • Perform quality inspection on all renovations and upgrades to the NCCIPS facility to include identifying punch list items during facility upgrades, inspect facility upgrades, and identify items for repair still under warranty; and inspect repaired warranty items and ensure corrections meet applicable standards.
  • Perform quality review of facility drawings, documents and recommend changes.
  • Perform as Authorized Photographer and ensure all photos meet the criteria listed in the Media Security document NCCIPS-WI-1600-0001.
  • Document renovations and upgrades to the NCCIPS facility infrastructure with pictures and video for future reference.
  • Perform detailed quality inspection on all new facility underground infrastructure.
  • Perform detailed quality inspection of Victaulic pipe and Victaulic couplers for proper installation.
  • Document and insure all CADWelds conform to manufacture's requirements.
  • Perform detailed quality inspection on all CADWelds and issue a Pass/Fail rating.
  • Perform detail quality inspection of new chilled water pipe insulation for deficiencies.
  • Perform quality inspection on all aspects of the under raised floor facility infrastructure (ground grid, electrical components, chilled water pipes, etc.) and identify issues and anomalies.
  • Perform periodic quality inspection on UPS batteries. Identify and document anomalies.
  • Perform periodic quality inspection on electrical panels and panel schedules to insure accuracy.
  • Identify safety issues and report safety issues to safety manager for correction.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work flexible hours if required. Working hours will match the Quality and Safety Departments hours. Staff may be required to alter schedule to match construction activities, such as pouring concrete, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently with general supervision and a high degree of discretionary effort.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with external / internal customers that drive operational efficiencies through mutual respect and trust.
  • Ensure that employees and visitors follow all safety and security rules and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and 0 years related experience.
  • Years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. 

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Associate's Degree in related field or commensurate experience.
  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance.
  • Prior data center experience.
  • CAD training or experience.   
  • Knowledge of welding.

 

Minimum Required Skills and Education: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with general supervision, make critical decisions, maintain thorough records of activities and keep supervision fully briefed on current issues.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Quality assurance experience.
  • Candidate must have a background that has required planning and research to come up with strategies and plans of action to accomplish routine as well as complex tasks.
  • Must be able to work and contribute in a team environment. Demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead others to achieve common objectives.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, possess good writing skills, able to produce reports, be an effective communicator, and have good reading skills to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Office, Word, etc.)

 

Work Environment:

  • Work is to be performed on-site at the location listed, with the potential of telecommuting up to 1-day per week. Work schedule may vary based off of work being performed by contractors and vendors.

 

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience working in a similar environment or facility.  Prior experience should include similar duties and responsibilities that are specified in the job description.
  • Army Corp of Engineers Construction Quality Manager training or ability to complete.

 

Clearance:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Interim Secret clearance prior to employment.  Continued employment is contingent that the employee obtains and maintains a full Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time.
