Here at SAIC we are seeking you, our Facilities and Hardware Team Lead to work on our exciting program supporting satellite ground systems for the Space Systems Command (SSC), Kirtland AFB, NM. We maintain a secure satellite operations complex that requires installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all IT and telecom equipment according to safety, preventative maintenance schedules and existing equipment protocols. This is a working team lead position, and you will manage a small team of hardware and facilities specialists and help with setting priorities and coordinating activities. Serve as an interface between the on-site government facilities management organization, various support contractors and vendors, local utilities, and all other customers and stakeholders on matters related to customer requirements, project prioritization and execution.   The position requires frequent physical activity. Such activities include: ability to reach overhead, squat, and bend at the waist; ability to lift boxes of 50 lbs. or more; ability to climb up and down stairs throughout the day; ability to stand for 2-4 hours at a time; ability to climb ladders; ability to work under raised floors; ability to tolerate working inside and outside in all seasons as well as be on call when needed.   Fun stuff on the job you will do:
  • Plan, organize, and oversee team's assignments and daily execution of work to ensure that customer requirements are accomplished on time, to the specified quality and within budget
  • Act as the primary hardware and facilities liaison for other contractors, vendors, customers and program staff
  • Effectively communicate with staff, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding project matters and status
  • Perform technical reviews of mechanical engineering designs, calculations, analyses, drawings, or specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives or standards
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of facility and equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs; conduct analysis and investigations using Failure Mode Analysis and Root Cause
  • Manage a storage facility/workshop with tools and supplies for supporting several ground systems within a classified area; IT network hardware tools; and computer and network spares. Identify spare requirements based on utilization and failure rates

Qualifications

This is you:
  • Active DoD Top Secret with SCI eligibility and able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI throughout contract
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 14 years of experience or 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of degree.
  • Experience working with hardware/facilities associated with computer racks and workstations. 
  • Knowledge of facility operations and maintenance activities and procedures
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading and managing a team effectively, managing multiple tasks with competing resources, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines
  • Experience supporting IT equipment, including cabling, racks, servers, switches, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to team with industry partners
  • Demonstrated track record of adhering to tight schedules with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  You will WOW us even more if you have these skills:
  • Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Contractor License
  • IT Installation Certification i.e. CCNA; BICSI installer level 1 or 2
  • Ability to provide front-end planning and feasibility design/layout for workspaces
  • Knowledge of space utilization and facilities management
  • Experience developing initial space plans for space reconfiguration
