SAIC is looking for an experienced, energetic and motivated Field Service Technician to join our  team in El Paso, TX as a Field Service Technician. Working for SAIC, you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position keeping the infrastructure running that helps SAIC keep our borders safe.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in Southern California along with Southeastern California locations such as Calexico, Andrade as well as other sites in Eastern Arizona including San Luis.
  • Daily area of coverage could include sites up to 150 miles from home base.
  • Mileage will be reimbursed at the prevailing government rate.
  • Reliable transportation with insurance.
  • Substantial toolkit to support installation and maintenance activities will be provided.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on border crossing station equipment, including but not limited to s LPR equipment, radar sensors, network/power, and communication devices.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Install new equipment and systems according to specifications and guidelines provided by customs and border protection authorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements.
  • Adhere to all IT Security, physical security, and operations security policies
  • Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks in border crossing stations. To include vehicle driving safety.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customs and border protection personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or HS diploma and 6 years of experience as a Field Service Technician.
  • Currently residing in the El Paso, TX area. 
  • Ability to drive daily to job sites, sometimes up to 150 miles away.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to write reports
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and computer software for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only).
  • Technically proficient with signal cabling such as CAT 6 to include testing and termination. 
  • May travel to other locations on the U.S. border to assist with installations and ticket resolutions for up to two weeks. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is strongly desired.
  • Active DHS Public Trust highly desired.

Clearance / Citizenship Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust prior to starting with our team.
  • CBP Background Investigation requires drug screen prior to starting.
