Tired of the long commute into the Los Angeles area, SAIC has exciting aerospace engineering opportunities in the Inland Empire.  The Inland Empire has affordable housing and commute times much shorter than typical commutes into the LA area since our SAIC Engineering office is located on the east side of Los Angeles. This position will be located at San Bernardino, CA. SAIC is currently the key support contractor for the Force Development Evaluation (FDE) Program to the Air Force.  SAIC provides aerospace engineering analysis and modeling/simulation support as part of a multi-contractor team.  SAIC is looking for an energetic and highly motivated engineer to become the next generation telemetry expert for a variety of interesting rocket programs.  At the SAIC San Bernardino engineering center we are multi-discipline team of propulsion, structures, fluid mechanics, software, controls, and avionics engineers. We support the Rocket System Launch Program (RSLP) which is a United States Space Force program that provides quick access to space to other government agencies in addition to ICBM technical analysis.  Working in the SBCA engineering center provides a unique and diverse opportunity to work with various launch vehicle programs (besides MMIII) and contractors throughout the country and perform independent analysis of the launch vehicle designs.  Don't miss this great opportunity to contribute to one of the most exciting and challenging development and sustainment efforts in the Department of Defense (DoD).  Position and pay will be commensurate with skills and experience.  A qualified candidate will perform the following duties, but are not limited to:

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain data management for the FDE program
  • Maintain accuracy database
  • Support administration of reports, tracking, and technical deliverables
  • Define, analyze, and review results from model simulations
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software tools that predict pre-flight performance under nominal, off-nominal, and Monte Carlo flight conditions
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software tools that analyze post-flight data to break-out sub-system errors, e.g. guidance hardware, software, targeting, survey, reentry, etc.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain trajectory processing tools for the reduction and analysis of flight test data to determine Best Estimate of Trajectory (BET)
  • Update models based on designs, test results, and other data
  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and 0 years related experience.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering or physics with complex systems engineering
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Must have demonstrated presentation skills and experience interfacing with the customer
  • Must be proficient in software programming and MATLAB
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with statistical analysis of test and simulation results using tools such as MATLAB
  • May require up to 25% travel

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS in engineering
  • Prior experience with Linux preferred
  • Prior experience with FORTRAN software and MATLAB
  • Experience with GPS translators and navigation flight code experience
  • Prior ICBM weapon system experience
  • Understanding of missile (rigid body) dynamics including aerodynamics and propulsion dynamics
  • Experience with various scientific programming languages (FORTRAN, C++, etc.)

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
