SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer Senior to support software sustainment and aircraft Mission Planning Environment (MPE)  activities for the B-52H System Program Office (SPO) in our Midwest City, OK office. The Systems Engineer will research, analyze, assess, and recommend resolutions for technical and supportability software deficiencies revealed in B-52 operational service. This effort shall include technical analysis and assessment of software developed by the Government Prime Integrator, Boeing Co., to include development of tests and recommendations to mitigate software issues, deficiencies, or anomalies that may occur on or off aircraft during software development, laboratory testing, and modifications associated with both RDT&E and sustainment activities.

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Provide software engineering expertise required to support B-52H software block cycle updates including OAS, CONECT and targeting pod integration and aircraft Mission Planning.
  • Assessment and written reports of current and future software maintenance within the software block cycle including performance to software development plan and technical efficiency of the design, integration and test approaches.
  • Assessment of the software developers (contractor and government) requirements, software documentation and relevant engineering data.
  • Participate in requirements, design and test procedure peer reviews to include analyzing and providing comment on peer review materials.
  • Participate in all technical and programmatic review and meetings required for B-52H software blocks and Mission Planning software development.
  • Participate in weekly Software Review Boards (SRB) and provide technical analysis of problem reports.
  • Provide recommendations addressing software developer's execution to integrated master schedules and other program level schedules.
  • Participate in planning and execution of software block and Mission Planning Configuration Control Boards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Software or Systems Engineering or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience working with military aircraft systems and software.
  • A basic knowledge and experience of aircraft Mission Planning.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills.

 Desired Experience:

  • Experience with the Agile software development process
  • Working knowledge of IBM Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
  • Familiarity with Technical Orders (TOs), Flight Manuals and/or Maintenance Manuals
  • Familiarity with B-52H software/hardware
