SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team.
The Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive systems engineering and testing documentation, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and representing the engineering domain to our customers. The role involves managing engineering and test events, analyzing results, and publishing detailed reports. While this role is 100% remote, priority will be given to candidates on the East Coast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement systems engineering and testing documentation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Software/Integration, Cyber, PM, CM, and Logistics.
- Represent the Systems Engineering and Testing domains to customers.
- Manage and oversee engineering and test events, including creating Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Procedures, and Test Reports.
- Analyze engineering and test results and publish detailed reports.
- Develop test plans mapped to requirements and operational use cases.
- Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to plan and execute tests.
- Report the status of engineering and testing activities to sponsors.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science) OR a minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems engineering, test and evaluation, or related fields.
- Experience planning and executing developmental and operational testing activities.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and systems development and testing policies.
- Proficiency in developing test documentation (test plans, procedures, and reports).
- Strong understanding of communication systems principles and technologies.
- Experience with interoperability testing and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Knowledge of emergency response systems and their integration with communication networks.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, including risk management frameworks.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using statistical methods.
- Experience with requirements management, verification, and validation processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Prior hands-on work with public safety or military emergency response systems.
- Knowledge of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) for first responders and joint operations.
- Experience working with DHS SAFECOM, NIST PSCR, or NPSTC standards.
- Knowledge of LTE/5G integration with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
- Experience with satellite communications and emergency response redundancy planning.
- Familiarity with spectrum management tools and NTIA/DoD frequency coordination processes.
- Proficiency in test instrumentation (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
- Familiarity with modeling & simulation tools (e.g., OPNET, MATLAB, STK).
- Experience with automated test tools and data visualization software (e.g., Python, R, Power BI).
- Certified Test and Evaluation Professional (CTEP), Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), or DAWIA Test & Evaluation Level II/III certification.
- Security+ or CISSP certification.
- Experience coordinating with PMOs, PEOs, and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to manage test schedules, resources, and risk.
- PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
