Saint Francis University invites applications for individuals with exceptional leadership and management skills for the position of Chair/Program Director of the Department of Physician Assistant Sciences

Saint Francis University is a small, private, liberal arts institution in the Catholic, Franciscan tradition. Founded by Franciscan Friars in 1847, Saint Francis University is the oldest Franciscan college/university in the United States. Located in rural Loretto, Pennsylvania, the University enrolls approx. 1,700 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students. Saint Francis offers more than 30 undergraduate majors and graduate programs to about 2,500 students and boasts one of the longest-standing PA programs in the United States. By emphasizing values, skills and knowledge each program provides an understanding of Franciscan heritage, values and traditions.

Saint Francis is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual who will help guide its Accelerated 3+2 Master of Physician Assistant Sciences program into the future. Joined by a team of exceptional and seasoned faculty, the full-time Chair/Program Director will hold administrative and teaching responsibilities in a 12-month non-tenure track position. This position offers opportunities to collaborate with other professional programs in our distinguished School of Health Sciences and Education and the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness, which houses our brand-new Experiential Learning Commons. This is a modern, state-of-the-art simulation area that includes Anatomage and HoloAnatomy, a brand-new cadaver lab and countless opportunities for interdisciplinary learning in a hospital-like setting.

The qualified candidate will hold a minimum of a master's degree at rank of Associate Professor however a doctorate degree is preferred. The candidate will also hold three years of full-time teaching experience in higher education (required), while five years is preferred. Must be currently NCCPA certified physician assistant and licensed in the state of Pennsylvania, or willing and able to attain licensure. Must be able to support the mission and Franciscan Goals of Higher Education of Saint Francis University.

Additional requirements: program planning and fiscal management skills; demonstrated ability to develop cooperative and supportive relationships with students, faculty, and staff; communication skills required to build partnerships in the medical community, and a leadership style that encourages participatory decision-making.
