Responsibilities / Job Duties: Reports to the Director of Marine Operations (Top Management) on matters related to the implementation, monitoring, and effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS). Works closely with the Engineering Manager, Port Engineers, Crewing Manager, and vessel crews to verify that the Savage Marine Management System is fully implemented and maintained onboard company vessels. The role includes participation in root cause analysis and the development, implementation, and verification of corrective actions resulting from identified events, incidents, or nonconformities. If appointed as the Designated Person Ashore (DPA), the Senior Manager SH&E serves as the primary link between vessel personnel and shore-based management on matters relating to safety and pollution prevention. In this capacity, the DPA has direct access to Top Management to ensure that leadership is informed of significant safety and environmental issues and that appropriate resources are applied as needed. The DPA verifies and monitors safety and pollution prevention activities across the fleet, including, at a minimum: Communication and implementation of the Company's safety and environmental protection policies Evaluation and review of the effectiveness of the management system Reporting, analysis, and trending of events within the management system Organization and oversight of internal audits, including verification of auditor independence and training Review and revision of the management system, as necessary Verification that adequate resources and shore-based support are provided to vessels Additional responsibilities include continually reviewing the Management System and recommending improvements based on vessel observations, audit findings, and vetting results. The Senior Manager SH&E ensures that ISM internal audits, safety audits, and emergency response exercises are conducted in accordance with established schedules and participates in external audits as required. Requirements/Qualifications: · Must have a valid TWIC card and a Passport · Good communication skills · Self-motivated with proactive leadership skills Education/Experience: · High School diploma · Expected to have working knowledge of ABS Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE) and is responsible for verifying that the Maintenance and HSE modules are properly maintained. This includes confirming that work orders, inspections, corrective actions, and associated documentation are accurately entered, tracked, and closed in accordance with Company procedures and regulatory requirements. Physical Requirements: Able to work, lift and carry loads greater than 25 pounds, climbing and descending ladders.
