A culture of safety A commitment to helping our Team Members do things that they never dreamed possible. Major Purpose:   The Operations Supervisor will provide support to the Operations Manager. They will manage the day-to-day operations of the site; team member development; safety program implementation; and process & procedure execution at Savage's Cherry Point operation. This operation includes the unloading of Crude Oil Unit Trains, loading & unloading railcars of LPG's, loading of Molten Sulfur into railcar, and unloading of Renewable Oils from Truck. This operation also handles all switching and operating of locomotives onsite. What you'll be doing:      Manage a team of 10 Team Members. Manage all reports & logs. Communicate with the local Class 1 RR, our customers, other contractors onsite. Oversee that all Team Members have Proper PPE for Daily Tasks. Ensuring all Team Members are following Rail Operating Manual (ROM) and SOP's Ensuring proper yard checks and inspections of Equipment and Facility are done. Run productive Toolbox Meetings, provide thorough turnovers to oncoming shifts, maintain all S7i standards. Help maintain all their Team Members training. Requirements to be successful in this position:  Ability to work independently in an industrial setting, effectively balancing customer, company, and team member needs, to delegate and/or involve others where appropriate, to interact and work effectively with other contractors, always maintaining a high level of integrity. Understands and must be committed to the growth and development of team members and provides motivation and encouragement to team members to follow his/her example in the areas of safety, health, and the environment. Effectively communicate on several different levels and with various stakeholders (customers, team members, and other managers). Must be a hands-on, hardworking self-starter, with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, changing environment. Assist with the professionalism & cleanliness of the operation through consistent use of our 5S principles/system. Must be willing to work on a rotational schedule based on the needs of the operation. Education/Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience supervising or managing crews. Minimum 2 years' experience in transloading bulk hazardous materials. Minimum 2 years' experience in rail switching and locomotive operating. Experience in general maintenance, mechanical skills, and repairs a plus, but not required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of computers and related hardware/software. General knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the transportation industry. Here are some of the physical requirements for this role: The candidate should be in good physical condition. Some of the work will be outdoors working alongside field personnel, climbing stairs, ladders, and on and off equipment. Able to work outdoors year-round in all conditions, able to walk several miles per day, able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance, able to climb/stoop/crawl. Must be able to work on elevated surfaces.
