Job Description

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care adhering to established policies, procedures, and protocols to the patients admitted to the Emergency Department and throughout the facility as necessary.

  • Assesses, plans, and evaluates patient care needs
  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs
  • Carries out physician orders and clarifies, educates, and instructs patients and families on the orders as needed
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
  • Assesses and coordinates patients' discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains skills and knowledge of various medical devices including, but not limited to, cardiac monitors, vital signs machines, defibrillators, IV pumps, rapid infusers, Bair Huggers, and patient gurneys

Job Qualifications:

Required Licenses

  • Must have a current and valid Wyoming RN License or equivalent compact

Required Certifications

  • Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association
  • ACLS and PALS current or within 90 days of hire or transfer, or approved extension of an additional 90 days from the department director and CNO.
  • NRP current or within 1 year of initial hire or transfer
  • ENCP or TNCC completion within 1 year of initial hire or transfer
  • Handle with Care training within first 30 days of employment

Work Experience

  • 2+ years of Emergency Room experience - preferred

Shifts: Days, Nights

Required License

Valid licensure in the State of Wyoming as a Registered Nurse (RN) or COMPACT LICENSE

Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator and Nursing Unit Director, perform nursing patient care duties for the assigned unit or department. Plan, provide and evaluate total nursing care by the established patient care philosophy. Facilitate individualized, goal-directed nursing care by using the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care, maintain satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units, and participate in all phases of education.
