
Description
Position Objective: Oversees the Safety Focus Program and safety procedures for the Thomson Plant, ensuring alignment with the Six Principles of Safety through proactive incident prevention, investigations, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, fine motor skills, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):
1. Drive and manage the Safety Focus Program at Plant 22, ensuring it aligns with the Six Principles of Safety.
2. Lead and facilitate meetings with hourly employees who are active participants in the Safety and Ergonomic Committees.
3. Conduct and document incident investigations, ensuring timely root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
4. Monitor and track Check Engine compliance and follow-ups related to incidents in departments, ensuring accountability and corrective measures are implemented.
5. Maintain accurate safety performance data inventory for the facility and use trends to recommend improvements.
6. Provide monthly updates to the EH&S Manager on all safety-related program performance, incident trends, and compliance status.
7. Deliver constructive and positive feedback to Plant 22 Management while reinforcing accountability for safe practices.
8. Communicate success stories, incident learnings, and safety concerns with employees and management.
9. Coach employees on safe behaviors, compliance responsibilities, and the importance of incident reporting and follow-up.
10. Train new hires on the Safety Focus Program, incident reporting, and compliance expectations.
11. Promote active employee participation and ownership in the Safety Focus Program, encouraging continuous improvement.
12. Report weekly to the EH&S Manager any outstanding action items, incident investigations, or compliance gaps.
13. Monitor and update Safety Focus boards and Check Engine boards across the plant to ensure visibility of safety priorities and progress.
14. Oversee the duties and development of the Safety and Ergonomic Committees, aligning goals
with plant safety strategy.
15. Schedule and conduct meetings and training sessions for Safety and Ergonomics teams.
16. Perform and document monthly SPCC inspections.
17. Perform and document weekly Hazardous Waste Inspections.
18. Assist the EH&S Manager with the S.A.F.E. Program and other compliance-driven initiatives.
19. Ensure full compliance with all environmental procedures, programs, and corporate safety requirements.
20. Perform all job duties using safe work methods, modeling leadership and accountability in safety.
21. Encourage and enforce adherence to safety procedures, policies, and compliance standards across all departments.
22. Demonstrate responsibility and ownership by addressing unsafe conditions and ensuring timely corrective actions.
23. Communicate personnel or safety-related issues promptly to the EH&S Manager.
24. Support a positive safety culture by reinforcing teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
25. Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times; work overtime as required.
26. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

1. Assist other plant personnel as needed.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours.
2. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry, and reach frequently.
3. Ability to lift packages weighing up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
4. Ability to distinguish between colors.
5. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs/ladders as required.

2. Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

4. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

6. Strong computer literacy, including data entry and reporting.
7. Must be able to make presentations in group setting using necessary visual aids and have good communication skills.
8. Must be able to direct the work of others.
9. Must be able to work flexible work schedule as required to cover all shifts.
10. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with vendors, contractors, and external partners to support safety and compliance initiatives.
Training Requirements:
1. Must complete orientation training session.
2. Must complete job requirements training as defined in the training procedures.
3. Must complete EQA/Pride Training.
4. Must complete Quality System Training.
5. Must complete MSDS/Chemical Right To Know Training

1. Responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses and earplugs.
2. Responsible for materials and supplies issued.
3. Responsible for equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
Safety & Security Requirements:
1. Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
2. Must report any unsafe conditions to supervision.
3. Must report all accidents no matter how slight to supervision immediately.
4. Must wear personal protective equipment at all times while in the designated areas.
5. Must comply with all plant and department safety rules and regulations
