SUMMARY

     This position provides leadership, direction and support for all engineering, reliability, and maintenance activities for Plant RP. This position is accountable for all phases of facility assigned projects, including the objectives of technical adequacy, economic feasibility, cost control, timely completion and operating performance. The Plant Engineer acts as liaison with Corporate Engineering, manages all outside contractor relationships and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritize Safety within the maintenance department as the first priority.

Responsible for ensuring the maintenance team is trained in safely performing all tasks required in accordance to SMS/SAFE requirements.

Work directly with the technical manager operations/Reliability on asset related issues and overall equipment strategy.

Responsible for the maintenance department, engineering installations and facility maintenance. This includes all aspects of the plant mechanical and electrical production machinery, buildings, and plant utilities.

Effectively manage the labor utilization of all maintenance personnel including salaried and plant hourly associates.

Provide systems, personnel, and equipment necessary to respond to emergency maintenance needs per the escalation policy.

Responsible for managing the maintenance budget.   The Plant Engineer plays a key role in maintenance cost reduction.  Development of Associates in the Maintenance department whether that is Technicians or Project Engineers that need growth opportunities.

Provide leadership for continuous improvement of the facilities TPM system with the goal being improved equipment reliability. Will include the responsibility of recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.

Conduct monthly TPM leadership meetings for the departments they represent. Relevant metrics will be decided by the TPM leadership team with metrics reported to the technical manager operations / Reliability.

Serve on or lead RCFA teams, which includes production, asset reliability members (asset reliability supervisor , technical manager operations/Reliability), and plant leadership.

Work closely with the Asset reliability supervisor to inform on PM optimizations and needed equipment overhauls.

Participate in the weekly work order scheduling meeting led by the Asset reliability supervisor.

Implement new methods and/or procedures to improve work methods, equipment performance, and product quality.  Engage with each department to innovate and identify solutions to safety, quality, and cost opportunities.

Actively pursue new equipment, process techniques, instrumentation, materials, etc. with the aim of maximizing productivity while minimizing cost.

Develop, submit, and manage capital as well as expense projects. Responsible for developing equipment specifications, obtaining bids, hiring contractors, supervising installations and writing project proposals as a certified project manager.  Position will ensure that available resources are allocated, coordinated and deployed to accomplish processes successfully.

Capital improvements will be discussed with the plant manager and Technical manager operations / Reliability.

Manage/Build relationships with contractors and suppliers.

Must have the ability to evaluate skill level of maintenance technician candidates during the interview process.  Identifying talent to fill vacancies from retirement or promotions will also be included.

Ensure the facility is compliant with regulations and standards and ensure that documentation reflecting compliance is readily available for audit. Responsible for maintaining equipment compliance with OSHA and state environmental regulations. This includes working with EHS Manager to ensure environmental permits and audits are completed as required.

Position will lead plant energy saving efforts.

Responsible for all facility maintenance efforts for the plant which includes but are not limited to: roof, HVAC, grounds, plumbing/fixtures, building, machine guarding, Infra-red checks, etc.

Responsible for complying with all local, state and federal environmental requirements and or permits. Responsible for coordinating with Corporate Risk Management in regards to FM Global audits and their recommendations.

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field required.  Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills are also required.

Must have a working knowledge of DC and AC drives, PLC function and troubleshooting. 

Previous manufacturing experience preferred.  Prior leadership experience desired.  Implementation of preventative machinery maintenance program, Six Sigma certification and TPM experience a plus..
