WHITETAIL CLUB TURF MANAGEMENT INTERN

  • Gain a general understanding of Whitetail Club's golf environment and standard Turf Operating procedures.
  • Hold responsibility for supporting the day-to-day Turf operation, course performance, golf management, member/guest and staff experience.
  • Play a key role in assisting in the daily Turf operation including course playability for tee time management, member/guest relations, practice facility management and events.  
  • Maintain an attractive golf course and work to achieve superior playability.
  • Actively support and promote club events and participate in golf activities.


WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Rotations through a variety of departments. Interns will gain exposure to Golf Course Management in a mountain environment
  • Turf preparation in preparation for events as well as other member functions, ensuring all meet the Shore Lodge Whitetail Club, AAA, 3/4 Star/Diamond standards
  • Tour of shop, grounds and golf course. 
  • Additional instruction on Whitetail Club Standards and how they affect the member/client relationship and general company processes and procedures. 
  • Golf Cart Safety Training. 
  • Conduct on-going weather and temperature evaluations for black sand application if needed for Greens preparation. 
  • Evaluation of greens winterization issues and areas for concern, adapting processes, procedures, applications and timing as necessary.  
  • Continued force melting (black sand application) of greens, spring cleanup in preparation for opening, getting a head start with seeding. 
  • Instruction on daily course set up (changing the pin locations), ability to read the greens, gain familiarity with the entire golf course, areas for concern and evaluation. 
  • Conduct moisture readings, make determinations / recommendations on hand watering vs. course watering
  • Evaluate ideal playing conditions and the procedures needed. 
  • Fertilizer application instruction. 
  • Evaluation of walk mowers, Tri-plex Mowers, Verticutter and other machinery and tools as needed
  • End of season procedures including, but not limited to aeration, weather forecast evaluation, sprinkler head adjustments and coverage evaluation. 




Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:       

  • 2+ years of relevant 3/4 Star/Diamond service experience in hospitality industry preferred  
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Education
  • Knowledge and ease of use with Microsoft applications, Outlook and Internet navigation
  • Ability to multi-task; while maintaining a high degree of organization and remaining detail oriented
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to develop strong relationships
  • Organizational and time management skills a desire to exceed expectations
  • A positive attitude and the ability to embrace Whitetail Club's mission to create lasting memories for our members and their guests 
  • A mindset for professional growth and commitment
  • Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
