POSITION SUMMARY:  The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating patients, diagnosing disorders; planning, implementing and modifying treatment programs according to age appropriate needs.  In addition, to direct patient intervention, the Speech Therapist is involved in the education of patient, family, caregivers, and staff regarding the patient's communication, cognitive skills, and swallowing abilities.  The Speech Therapist may participate in student education and other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.  Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, vital stim.  Speech Therapist must be proficient in skills needed to patients in acute and outpatient settings.  SLP is responsible for building and maintaining personal referral base through physician relations and marketing.

 

The SLP and director will set established goals mutually agreed upon that are measured and monitored by the department director.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's degree equivalent in Speech Language Pathology required, (Master's Degree or Master's Degree equivalent in Speech Language Pathology preferred) and completion of CCC's.

 

EXPERIENCE: 2 years in acute setting preferred. Newer graduates considered.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:  Able to perform all evaluations, assessments and TX planning required in this position.  Effective verbal and written communications.
