We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join the Automation Services Team as a Field Technician. This role is instrumental in the building, deployment, and maintenance of equipment that Smyth's customers use to enhance the selling of their product. Every day we bring our customers' labels and packaging to life, creating an experience that is second to none, and enabling them to stand out over the competition. Imagine walking through stores and seeing our labels on your favorite products and brands!

This is a full-time opportunity, working Monday through Friday, days. This role will require moderate levels of travel, at times with very short notice.

Key Responsibilities for Field Technician include:

  • Working collaboratively with a Team to design, develop, test, learn, adjust, and execute equipment for our customers
  • Managing infield assembly, installation, and preparation of label application equipment 
  • Providing equipment training, technical support, and troubleshooting, both virtually and infield
  • Maintaining inhouse industrial equipment
  • Coordinating job tickets for service and equipment orders; completing timely service reports, inventory management, and expense tracking

 

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:

  • Clear, effective, and tactical communication, both orally and in writing, to all levels of people inside and outside the organization; possession of strong English-speaking skills, fluency, and understandability
  • Ability to manage time effectively on multiple long- and short-term projects, meeting all related deadlines, while remaining organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities
  • High levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquires and needs of individuals, both internal and external to the organization

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma
  • Required: 2+ years' printing experience in a technical role, or 2-year technical degree
  • Required: Ownership of or access to a personal vehicle with minimum insurance requirements
  • Preferred: Experience with PLCs, pneumatics, servo/stepper motors
