Company and Position Summary

South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is seeking candidates for the position of System Engineer.  SCI REMC is the largest not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative in Indiana and a leader in innovative technology.  The cooperative focuses on providing safe, reliable, cost-effective electricity and fiber solutions to its members in seven counties in south central Indiana.

The cooperative is headquartered in a new, progressive facility in Martinsville, Indiana located just 30 minutes south of the Indianapolis airport and 20 minutes north of Bloomington, Indiana off of I-69.  SCI REMC serves 3,922 miles of energized lines with 34,875 meters and 29,451 electric members and 7,778 residential fiber subscribers.  SCI REMC has 163 highly valued, member-focused employees.  South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a not-for-profit electric distribution, fiber services, member-owned cooperative.  The Fiber Division of SCI REMC offers quality broadband services to homes and businesses plus fiber transport systems to ensure a reliable network service with a high level of member/subscriber experience satisfaction.

This is a key position in the Engineering team.  The best candidates for System Engineer will have strong initiative, solid technical skills, a drive for detail with strong analytic skills and a collaborative team player to join the Engineering team. The best candidate will either possess a PE or has an EIT, and is willing to work to attain a PE.  The position reports to our Sr, Manager, Operations Technology, who has a PE accreditation.  

 Key Position's Responsibilities

·         performing and directing functions of planning organizing and coordinating the activities of the staking engineers in accordance with established policies, plans and objectives of South Central Indiana REMC; ·         coordinating electric planning and electric line design engineering functions within the Distribution Services Department; ·         providing input and coordination to the consultants of South Central Indiana REMC on methods of system design, construction, maintenance and operation; ·         developing member support, understanding and acceptance of Distribution Services Department activities as they pertain to the membership. EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years' experience related to development and implementation of an electric utility system's engineering plans and programs, with demonstrated ability to lead a team.  Three to five years of experience with a rural electric distribution system is preferred.  Certification of EIT, preferred with an interest and ability to achieve a PE level. Will consider limited work experience for a motivated EE graduate with great initiative and strong critical thinking skills.   

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Must be capable of directing the work of the staking engineers

Must provide engineering advice on methods of electrical system design, construction, maintenance, and operations to various levels of employees or members.

Must design and develop, plans and schedules for electric distribution system improvement requirements.

Must direct corrections to voltage, power factor, and load factor problems.

Must perform regular reviews and analyses to determine methods for improving safety, productivity, and continuity of electrical service.

Must prepare contracts for line construction, maintenance, and system improvements, assist in supervising those contractors.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and others.

Must be available to assist in dispatch during emergencies.

Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with diverse teams and members.

Must have the ability to communicate patiently, respectfully, and effectively with all levels of people internally as well as externally. 

Must be regular in work attendance.
