Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of active data/software-specific scientific research to include data analysis and/or predictive modeling.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project analytical support or Military experience in an Operations Research position.
  • Demonstrated understanding of scientific principles.
  • Deep understanding of programming/data analytics tools such as:
    • Data Science: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
    • Data Analytics: PowerBI, R, Tableau.
  • Understanding of data structures, databases, data warehousing, database management and data trends analysis.
  • Professional knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and practices of analysis to apply scientific methods and techniques for analyzing systems, processes, and/or operational problems and procedures.
  • Ability to expand beyond educational background with critical and analytical thinking and a proactive approach in a collaborative work environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and main a Top-Secret Clearance throughout time of employment. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, or relevant technical field.
  • Top Secret security clearance.
  • Proven experience analyzing data to produce reports and recommendations on improving processes efficiency for U.S. Military projects.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with DTRA, the Chemical/Biological Defense Program (CBDP), CWMD, and/or CBRN response/mitigation.
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of or experience in DoD or Federal acquisition.


Responsibilities

The Data Scientist SME will provide Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Chemical and Biological Technologies Department, Digital Battlespace Management Division (RD-CBI). Apply subject matter expertise and support to the Government for science and technology (S&T) projects aimed at developing modeling and simulation tools for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) support. The candidate will support management of technical projects that focus on developing algorithm tools which will improve understanding of and decisions in CB contested environments. Apply a strong expertise in analyzing, interpreting, and applying predictive modeling tools to advise and assist with the development/evaluation of Statements of Work (SOW) for CB data collection trials to support algorithm development for CB specific modeling. Other position duties include analyzing large data sets from performers to extract useable information for decision making; analyzing data for trends; advising on technical soundness of performer developed algorithms and models; and performing data analysis and preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence to clearly communicate recommendations and conclusions. Will prepare technical documentation and presentations to explain approaches, associated assumptions, and conclusions of scientific investigations. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing proposals, technical reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies, and statements of work to ensure technical validity to evaluate current and future CBRN technologies. Will also collaborate with the Project Management team on acquisition and procurement tasks.
