Required

  • BS Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • DoD granted TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Minimum relevant experience of twelve (12) years

Desired

  • Experience applying relevant software development methodologies and practices, including traditional as well as more modern object-oriented programming techniques using state-of-the-art software development tools; planning, designing, developing, testing, installation, and maintenance of complex technical software systems supporting complex Multi-INT processing; producing technical and user documentation; providing user training and system orientation; and consulting with other software development teams throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Ability to analyze system requirements, identify software-engineering requirements, perform trade-off studies; and prepare impact studies related to the addition, deletion, or modification of software requirements to existing Multi-INT efforts as well as future NRL initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide independent analysis, verification, and validation of systems software from other developers, including analyzing software design documentation and test results and reviewing test plans and procedures to verify that test results will properly validate conformance to the requirements.


Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Software Engineer to support the Space Systems Development Department (SSDD), the primary space and ground support systems research and development (R&D) organization of the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST), an organization within the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. This organization provides Navy Space Program technology development and acquisition of space, aerospace, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems to assist Naval Missions. Responsibilities include advanced research and development for scientific, technical, and engineering efforts associated with the development and integration of C4ISR systems. This position is full-time onsite at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. We expect to hire in late 2025.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range:  $140,000-180,000.
