Senior Director, Database Services
Get To Know The Team:
SS&C is developing a service for our internal customers that provides the same functionality as Amazon's RDS or Azure SQL. We're starting with SQL Server, but will target Postgres, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MySQL as well as AI/ML pipelines and automation over the next years.

What You Will Get To Do:
- Srategic Vision and Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for automating and integrating database management processes. Lead the shift towards an API-centric approach, ensuring alignment with the organization's overarching business objectives.
- Change Management: Actively manage the transition process, addressing resistance, and fostering a culture of adaptability and innovation. Implement training and development programs to upskill team members in automation technologies and systems thinking.
- Technical Oversight and Innovation: Oversee the development and integration of APIs, automation tools, and cloud-based solutions. Stay at the forefront of technological advancements in automation, advocating for and implementing innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. While you may not be coding every day, you should have the skills to contribute to critical initiatives or troubleshooting in complex systems.
- Team Leadership and Development: Cultivate a high-performing team culture focused on continuous improvement and technological adeptness. Mentor and develop team members, ensuring they are prepared to excel in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Clearly articulate the benefits and impacts of automation initiatives, ensuring alignment and buy-in at all organizational levels.
- Project Execution and Management: Lead critical projects with precision, from conception through to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure all systems and automation practices adhere to the highest standards of data security, privacy laws, and industry regulations.
What You Will Bring:
- Proven experience managing software development projects and teams within a large organization
- Familiarity with modern development practices, technologies, and tools
- Solid understanding of various database platforms, including SQL Server, Postgres, Sybase, DB2, Oracle, and MySQL (experience with these specific platforms is preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to identify talent and build a team based on project requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle ambiguity
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
- Motivated and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and pick up new technologies as needed
- Experience in implementing self-service database platforms that treat databases as cattle, not pets, following the concept of scalability and disposability
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure management
- Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous, but not a strict requirement

Salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, business needs, and geographic regions.
