Overview

The Administrative Services Manager II serves as a key member of the Department of Corrections Executive Leadership Team, providing high-level administrative and operational support to the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other department executives and senior leaders. This position oversees the Administrative Services Unit at Central Office, ensuring the efficient delivery of operational and administrative functions that support the department's mission. The incumbent oversees the department's administrative operating budget, including budget development, monitoring, forecasting, and expenditure control.

 

This role provides strategic guidance on administrative policies, procedures, and resource allocation to promote effective management and accountability. This position supervises two staff under Administrative Services Unit, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. The position collaborates closely with executive and senior leadership on department-wide initiatives and cross-divisional coordination. The incumbent represents the Department of Corrections in interdepartmental meetings and serves as a liaison with other state partners. This position requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of state administrative systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

 

OR

 

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

 

OR

 

High school diploma AND six (6) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

 

OR

 

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Manager I with the State of Vermont.

 

NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative services includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).
