This position, created by Act 171 of 2022, is integral to a legislative modernization initiative relating to real property records and data in the State of Vermont.

What Will You Do?

Working closely with more than 240 municipal recording jurisdictions and a broad range of real property stakeholders in both government and private sectors, you will directly assist in, and be responsible for, building capabilities statewide to achieve the following modernization goals:

•    Data and records management standards to support findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR Principles) of real property records and data in current and future systems ranging from transactions recorded by clerks to land use permitting, planning, and zoning to tax appraisals and assessments to parcel mapping, etc.

•    Sustainment of uniform and consistent data and records management processes through statewide training, education and support as well as targeted assistance to specific state and local government agencies.

This position requires regular in-state travel and is best suited for someone who is committed to fostering collaborations, relationships, strategies, and technologies for the benefit of Vermonters; brings hands-on experience in one or all of the modernization goals; and is genuinely interested in developing expertise and leadership in the administration and management of Vermont real property records and data to support Vermont government and the public we collectively serve.
