Description

The Portfolio Analyst will provide administrative, operational and analytical support to one or more 1919 Portfolio Managers, Investment Associates and Client Advisors and will be responsible for day-to-day administrative management of individual client, institutional and trust portfolios. High-touch client service is a hallmark of 1919; the candidate should be skilled in and enjoy analytical work, client service and should have experience working closely with clients and co-workers. The Portfolio Analyst must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.



What We're Looking For

• Create, maintain, and distribute performance, billing, and operational reports to support internal teams and client service efforts.
• Track key economic data and update the office's client-facing economic outlook presentation slides on an ongoing basis, ensuring timely and accurate reflection of market conditions.
• Conduct annual mutual fund share class reviews to ensure clients are invested in the lowest-cost options available.
• Collaborate with the Finance department to manage quarterly billing cycle for the San Francisco office, ensuring accurate account setup, secure and timely invoice delivery.
• Generate quarterly reports for affiliated accountants, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Review trade reports for billing implications and model strategy changes.
• Conduct cross-platform updates to ensure consistency in model strategies, benchmarks, and account naming conventions.
• Research investment programs for clients ensuring that client objectives and client restrictions are considered and adhered to. Keeps investment teams on track with asset allocation and client reviews.
• Under supervision of Portfolio Manager or Investment Associate, work with clients to answer investment-related questions. Have knowledge of investment products, operations and the servicing requirements of their clients.
• Run special projects with an investment focus which could include forecasting and analyzing information for current clients and prospects.
• Use judgment and analysis tools to prepare specialized reports for clients and prospects, subject to Portfolio Manager review.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• Attend client meetings and client events. Attend relevant conferences to keep informed of changes and developments to the Firm and the industry.
• Support advisors with administrative work such as preparing expense reports and running and preparing client and prospect presentation materials.
• Lead or assist in special projects such as optimizing internal reporting templates and enhancing system usage across teams.
• Act as liaison with marketing and compliance teams to facilitate client communications, including weekly Market Insights and quarterly market outlooks.
• Provide cross-functional operational support, including coverage for colleagues on leave, backup Notary services, and assistance with compliance-related and ad hoc operational tasks.
• Coordinate logistics and execution of client engagement programs (e.g., holiday gifts, birthday outreach), with a focus on maintaining accurate records and timely delivery.
• Handle various portfolio administrative functions including but not limited to opening and terminating accounts; reviewing client billing; monitoring accounts by tracking cash, maturities and settlements to ensure that funds are available to clients; instructing custodians to wire funds or prepare checks; implementing the sale of mutual funds; determining instruments to sell to raise cash and documenting/memorializing client meetings and communications.

• Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, the industry, the analysis and reporting of financial data, and associated terminology.
• Knowledge and experience using analytical skills.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problem solving.



Education & Experience

• Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum Required: 1+ years relevant experience.
• Preferred: 1-3 years of financial analysis in investment industry experience in financial services, preferably in Private Wealth Management, Portfolio Administration, or college education and internships relating to Private Wealth Management.



Systems & Technology

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Experience with Adobe, Advent APX, Moxy/Genesis, Black Diamond, Salesforce
