Overview

Bluewater Federal is looking for Physical Infrastructure Specialist to support the Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).

• Design, install, inspect, document, and maintain the physical network and cable plant (inside/outside plant, PDS, racks, power/UPS, fiber/copper, WAPs), ensuring quality, security (TEMPEST/PDS), and accuracy of as‑built records for mission‑critical facilities
• Perform daily PDS inspections (365/year) in randomized order/time; maintain daily logs; support PDS approvals and updates
• Install physical components (racks, switches, routers, WAPs, patch panels, UPS, fiber/copper runs, PDS segments) across core/distribution/access layers.
• Execute site surveys using Government‑approved checklists; develop site survey reports and installation schedules; coordinate with security and O&M leads
• Produce/maintain as‑built drawings (AutoCAD/Visio), building infrastructure drawing packages, communications diagrams, and functional area logical diagrams.
• Conduct QA on cable plant per Government procedures; document results and remediate deficiencies
• Design, install, test, activate, and maintain wireless networks; optimize WAP placement/coverage and integrate cellular/5G where directed.
• Support inventory management, staging, and logistics for network materials; update trackers and coordinate RMAs/repairs.
• Provide after‑hours response within 1 hour for outages/incidents requiring on-site work.

• 2+ years of professional experience in relation to electrical wiring, generator power, fiber optic installation, LAN test equipment (e.g., OTDR) and testing of networks and electrical systems.
• Must have an active Secret clearance
• BICSI ITS (Information Technology Systems) Installer Level 1 certification is required within 90 days after start date.
• Knowledge of PDS/TEMPEST standards, cable pathway design, grounding/bonding, labeling, and QA/testing methods for copper/fiber installations
• Ability to produce professional drawings and maintain configuration baselines; rigorous documentation and CfM discipline.
• Hands‑on history installing/testing OSP/ISP cable plant, PDS segments, WAPs, and documentation deliverables in controlled facilities.
