Tetra Tech is currently seeking a full-time, entry-level project engineer to provide support for our Engineering Design team on the West Coast. The remote flexibility of this role provides a great opportunity to learn the business side of engineering consulting while obtaining hands-on experience on project deliverables. While this position will allow the selected individual to regularly work from home, the selected candidate must be located in California for construction monitoring, site visits, etc. The selected candidate can work out of our office in Diamond Bar, CA (in-person) if desired or work remotely in California as we work on many projects across all of California (including the Bay Area/Northern California). The pay scale for this position is $68,640-$78,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
This position includes work on projects containing the following areas of civil/mechanical/chemical/environmental engineering: renewable energy/beneficial use, solid waste management, liquid and gas pipeline design, landfill gas control and monitoring, waste diversion, organics processing, air quality testing and emissions, thermodynamics, topographic plans, environmental regulations, and environmental monitoring. This role will also involve basic mechanical systems, drafting (AutoCAD/Civil 3D), cost estimation, specifications preparation, report preparation (Word/Excel), and construction quality management.
Your Role:
Under general supervision, the incumbent will assist with engineering assignments, data entry, data management, proof preparation and assembly of reports, produce excel spreadsheets, project coordination, and assist with miscellaneous engineering and general office tasks. Other responsibilities include:
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, environmental data, and aerial photographs for landfills
- Prepare landfill gas monitoring plans
- Prepare biogas/renewable energy, organics management, biogas treatment, and landfill gas piping plans and specifications
- Preparation of construction drawings using AutoCAD or Civil 3D
- Prepare construction cost estimations
- Collect and/or review environmental monitoring data (i.e. air, gas, groundwater)
- Prepare environmental and technical reports based off data collected or construction events observed
- Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Civil, Geological, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
- 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain a valid driver's license prior to starting
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent listening skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and a strong desire to learn and contribute to the team
Preferred:
- Previous experience and in a Civil, Geological, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental engineering role
- AutoCAD/Civil 3D or GIS skills
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
- Experience in landfill design, organics, waste diversion, renewable energy/beneficial use, landfill gas system design or operations, permitting or environmental monitoring as well as knowledge of environmental regulations
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineering License
- Experience with the Microsoft Office software suite, and PDF editing software (Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat)
