Description

We are looking for an Associate Director CDM / H&S Adviser to join Tetra Tech Europe's (TTE) Safety Management Team.  You will provide Principal Designer (Building Regulations) services under the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023; the provision of Principal Designer and Client CDM Adviser services under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 – including High-Risk Buildings (HRB) Principal Designer services; and the provision of General H&S Safety Management services. Project sectors include but are not limited to: Residential, healthcare, local and central government, defence, transport, environmental, commercial and education.

 

Job Content

·        Be experienced in the regulatory role of Principal Designer (Building Regulations) and HRB Principal Designer (CDM Regulations).

·        Be experienced in the regulatory role of Principal Designer and the non-regulatory roles of Principal Designer Support and Client CDM Adviser under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2015.

·        Be able to fulfil all Principal Designer duty holder requirements under both the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2015 – including on HRBs.

·        Be able to set-up TTE Principal Designer (Building Regulations) function including PAS 8671:2022 compliance and registration on relevant PD BR Register (e.g., RIBA).

·        Have the skillset required to be able to integrate seamlessly into both the Safety Management team and the wider TTE Operating Unit.

·        Have the skillset required to provide Principal Designer (Building Regulations) services under the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023 to both the Safety Management team and the wider TTE Operating Unit.

·        Have the skillset and ability to be proactive, comfortable, and assured in liaising with clients, designers, contractors and principal contractors on all matters relating to health and safety in design and construction when working as the Associate Director CDM Adviser on construction projects.

·        Have the skillset and ability to be proactive, comfortable, and assured in liaising with workers, senior management and all other interested parties on all matters relating to health and safety when working as an Associate Director H&S Adviser.

 

Technical knowledge and skills:

·        Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2015 and Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023.

·        Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Construction Health and Safety Management.

·        Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Occupational Health and Safety Management.

·        Experience of working within the Defence Sector is advantageous, but not essential.

·        Holder of a full, clean driving licence and having access to a suitable vehicle (which will be made available for use at work, and which possess the requisite business use insurance) is essential.

 

 Previous experience:

·        Substantial experience of working as a Principal Designer and Client CDM Adviser under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2015 is essential.

·        Experience of delivery of Principal Designer (Building Regulations) services under the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023 is essential – including on HRBs.

·        Significant experience of working as a General H&S Adviser under UK H&S Legislation is essential.

·        Demonstrable experience and ability in relevant sectors across the construction industry.

·        Demonstrable experience of undertaking construction site health and safety inspections and advice is essential.

·        Demonstrable experience of delivering CDM and General H&S training is desirable.

 

Educational Requirements and Professional Qualifications

·        Be professional qualified to ARB Register standards or equivalent standards for Principal Designer (Building Regulations) services under the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023 – including for HRBs.

·        Be registered on the RIBA PD Register (or equivalent) or be able to achieve full registration within three (3) months of joining the TTE Operating Unit.

·        Be professionally qualified to NEBOSH or equivalent standards for Principal Designer and Client CDM Adviser services under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2015.

·        As a minimum have successfully completed the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or the National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.

·        Hold appropriate professional memberships of, among others; RIBA, IOSH, APS, CIOB etc.

·        As a minimum, be a Graduate Member of IOSH (Grad IOSH) and a Certified Member of the APS (CMaPS).

·        Be able to evidence undertaking Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintenance of skills.
