We have an immediate opportunity for an Associate Level GeoScientist I  who will be involved in the execution of the work for project sites.  Responsibilities include the day-to-day project execution, field sampling, data compilation and processing, and assist with report preparation under the guidance of a more experienced geoscientist.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Conduct soil, groundwater, community air monitoring, vapor intrusion sampling and waste characterization sampling activities at private, commercial/industrial and government sites in the tri-state area but potentially at other locations across country, as needed.

·         Ability to assist in organizing and undertaking field sampling projects including managing day to day activities on specific investigation.

·         Serves as active member of a field data collection team with ability to learn advanced skills.

·         Assist in preparation of all sampling and analytical activities in an efficient manner to ensure that the project requirements and deadlines are met.

·         Maintains up-to-date sampling, monitoring, and testing skill/techniques ensuring the credibility of data collected.

·         Is familiar with potential hazards (safety and health) associated with project activities.

·         Assists with data entry, data management and analysis as part of deliverables preparation.

·         Assists in the preparation of required interim and final deliverables for projects.

·         Assists in preparation of sections of proposals relating to their area of specialty with regards to scope, labor hours, and equipment needed.

·         Analyzes problems via literature search and information compilation.  Understands and conducts scientific literature searches.

·         Working within schedule deadlines and working collaboratively on project teams.

 

Requirements:

·         B.S. or B.A. in geosciences or related field

·         2-4 years of experience or familiarity with field activities, including conducting soil, groundwater, community air monitoring, vapor intrusion sampling and waste sampling.

·         Oversight of drilling operations & monitoring well installation, excavation and UST removal activities is preferred.

·         Ability to troubleshoot in the field or office is required.

·         Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are required.

·         Must be willing to travel to project field locations on an as needed basis

·         Ability to work well with internal and external team members including other consultants/companies and subcontractors.

·         Strong Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

·         GIS experience/training is a plus.

·         Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is preferred or ability to obtain in a timely manner.

·         Must be able to obtain medical clearance for field work at hazardous waste sites including lifting up to 50 lbs. and working for extended periods of time in the field, under hot or cold, humid, and wet conditions.

·         Must have a valid driver license and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.

·         Ability to pass background check (as required for project work).

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

·         Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 50 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.

·         Performs manual labor.

·         Willingness to work during core and extended hours as required and for overnight travel essential. Extended overnight travel may be periodically required.
