Company: Tetra Tech
Location: NC
Career Level: Entry Level
Industries: Manufacturing, Engineering, Aerospace

Description

Tetra Tech is expanding its U.S. commercial nuclear and small modular reactor (SMR) business and is seeking an experienced sales and business development professional to help drive that growth.

This role focuses on hands-on selling, opportunity development, and closing work, supported by Tetra Tech's deep nuclear engineering and licensing expertise. Success depends on active client engagement and close coordination with internal technical and delivery teams. The scope is senior but highly engaged—neither a pure executive rainmaker position nor a junior sales role—and requires comfort operating across both external client interactions and internal collaboration.

This role is deliberately level-flexible and may be filled by:

  • A proven Director-level seller, or

  • A strong Senior Manager /Sales professional ready to step into broader revenue responsibility

Why This Is a Compelling Opportunity

  • Ability to grow with the role without being over-scoped on day one

  • Entrepreneurial mandate backed by Tetra Tech's balance sheet and deep nuclear engineering expertise

  • Access to a strong technical bench in nuclear engineering and licensing

  • Exposure to both existing fleet support and SMR deployment work

  • Clear commercial accountability without unrealistic rainmaker expectations

  • Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives

The Assignment:

  • Build, manage, and mature a qualified sales pipeline with U.S. nuclear utilities and SMR / advanced reactor developers

  • Convert opportunities into booked engineering, licensing, and regulatory services work

  • Grow assigned accounts through repeat engagements and expanding scope over time

  • Carry clear bookings and revenue accountability, scaled appropriately to level

What You Will Do Day-to-Day

  • Originate and shape opportunities—often ahead of formal RFPs—while also winning competitive pursuits

  • Engage utility engineering leaders, licensing managers, project directors, and, when appropriate, executive stakeholders

  • Translate technical capabilities into clear, compelling commercial value propositions

  • Lead capture planning, proposal strategy, pricing input, and negotiation support

  • Maintain ownership of key client relationships through award and early delivery phases

Success Measures:

  • Bookings and revenue vs. targets

  • Pipeline quality and conversion

  • Priority pursuit win rate

  • Account growth (utilities & SMRs)

  • Client satisfaction and repeat work
