Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    Modeling and design of stormwater management for site design and land development projects.
•    Navigate project permit processes for land development projects including both ESC and stormwater. 
•    Perform design using AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce grading plans, alignments, profiles, cut-fill volumes, surfaces, pipe networks, etc.
•    Support landfill cap design related to rehabilitation and remediation projects
•    Develop technical specifications, scope and cost estimates to support procurement of subcontractors including environmental remediation contractors, drillers, analytical laboratories, etc., and assist evaluation of bids and pricing.
•    Working closely with other engineering disciplines including structural, mechanical/process, chemical and electrical engineering to produce successful projects.
•    Prepare all work products in accordance with Tetra Tech QA/QC programs and professional engineering standards.
•    As required provide marketing and business development support to proposal leads.
•    Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

 

 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    Bachelorʼs degree in civil or environmental engineering.
•    Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in land development, water resources, environmental investigation/design, and/or utility design projects.
•    Experience working closely with permitting, natural/cultural resources, and construction management is desirable.
•    Ability to direct technical staff including CADD/GIS, surveyors, and construction required.
•    Registered PE (Civil) in at least one state or the ability to obtain within 3 months is preferred.
•    Valid Driverʼs License with an acceptable driving record.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft software, including Excel, Word and Project.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Position requires periodic travel, approximately up to 25%.
•    Current HAZWOPER certification is desirable.
•    Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
•    Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
•    

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Successful candidate will support field investigations that could potentially require the following: Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and adverse weather conditions; remaining stationary, traversing and moving about  to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy), physical and chemical hazards.  Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities.  Field work often involves extended hours on site.  Candidate must be able and available to travel via land and/or air and possess a valid drivers' license in good standing.

A reasonable level of out-of-office travel based on project responsibilities, requirements, and client needs may be required.  Position requires the ability to work under pressure or deadlines and to work overtime, as needed.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position requires the individual to drive either a rental car or his/her own car while performing their job from time to time. Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current, valid driver's license with no restrictions.  Travel via air is also required.


Language & Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations.  Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Candidates should be fluent in the English language and possess excellent verbal/written communication skills. Candidates must be able to professionally interact with clients, subcontractors, professionals, and the public.

Mathematical Skills:  Applicants should possess the ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to the job.

Other Skills:  

Candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidates must possess ability to resolve conflicts and provide solutions in a professional manner.  Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, excellent self-start/leadership skills, and be client focused. Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
