Position Summary:

The Civil Engineer Intern supports project planning and design by assisting with calculations, permitting, technical reports, and construction documents. Working alongside senior engineers, this role helps develop drawings, specifications, and cost estimates while applying standard engineering practices and ensuring work is accurate, compliant, and coordinated across disciplines.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the design and permitting of projects 

  • Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses 

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents 

  • Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates 

  • Ensure stand engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects 

  • Interface with other engineering disciplines 

  • Plan, coordinate and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office 

  • Third or a fourth-year student enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a typical office environment using a computer for extended periods.

  • Ability to visually interpret drawings, models, and technical documents.

  • Ability to attend site visits, which may include walking on uneven terrain, climbing steps, and standing for periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to travel to project locations as needed.

 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting with standard computer and engineering software use.
    Occasional site visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction activity, and uneven or rough terrain.
    Site environments may include moderate noise levels, moving equipment, and the need to follow established safety procedures.
    Travel to project locations may be required depending on assignment.

Salary dependent on experience. Range from $20 - $26/hour
